Every doggy has a『different life span』& based on their size/breed. As such, different dog breed can face different health risk as well! Here's a quick guide for parents, so that parents can take precautionary steps beforehand. Dog Size vs Common Problems We normally differentiate dog breed based on their height and weight. (Measure from bottom to elbow). Generally, dogs are categorized into 4 major sizes: large, medium, small and the miniature size.

1. Large Breeds

Weight: 26 ~ 44kg Height: 65 ~ 80cm Example: Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, Akita Inu, Husky, Dalmatian, etc. Large dogs are prone to joint injuries as most of them have obesity. As therefore, joint caring is very important to them. Besides that, climbing stairs can cause pressure their joints too.(´,,•ω•,,)♡


2. Medium Breeds

Weight: 11 ~ 25kg Height: 40 ~ 64cm Example: Corgi, Chow Chow, Shar Pei, Bulldog, Shiba Inu, etc. Furkids who fall into this category are more prone to problematic skins. They might have skin allergies easily during hot weather especially Chow Chow with thick hair coats.  When their hair coat is thick, they can easily sweat during hot weather.  Their sweat will trap beneath their coat and hence causing skin allergies.  Not only that, medium breeds like Shar Pei and Bulldog are also prone to Seborrheic Dermatitis because of excessive sebum secretion. In addition to above problems, parents should also give extra care by not letting them to climb the staircase too often. Doing so might cause dislocation of the kneecap in their legs easily.( ˘•ω•˘ )


3. Small Breeds

Weight: 4 ~ 10kg Height: 25 ~ 39cm Example: Dachshund, Beagle, Pug, etc. Furkids in this category are easily prone to Urinary Stones and Patellar Luxation. Besides that, small breeds like Dachshunds should be given extra care because climbing the stairs too often might injure their spinal cord in long term.(; ・`д・´)


4. Miniature Breeds

Weight: below 4kg Height: below 25cm Example: Chihuahua, Poodle, Pomeranian, Shih Tzu, Papillon, etc. Most of the parents are the big fan of miniature breeds. However, these furkids should be given extra care on their heart problem as they are prone to cardiovascular diseases such as Valvular Heart Disease. Other than that, when they are in old age they might even suffer from Collapsing Trachea.ρ(・ω・、)
